AGCO appoints Karin Schnarr as CEO and Registrar

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) has appointed Karin Schnarr as its new CEO and Registrar, effective from 18 September.

Prior to her appointment, Schnarr worked as the Associate Professor of Strategic Management at the Lazaridis School of Business & Economics at Wilfrid Laurier University.

She also held a similar position as the Assitant Professor of Policy at the same university, where she was responsible for teaching and researching strategic management courses.

While at Wilfrid Laurier University, Schnarr was the Director of the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree programmes, as well as contributing as a member of the university’s Board of Governors and Senate.

Schnarr has also held roles directly within the Government of Ontario as Chief of Staff, where has was responsible for guiding public policies, regulations and legislation.

She has also served as Chair of the Ontario Government’s Task Force on Women and the Economy, which was founded to address the unique barriers that women face in the workplace,Online Casino Games for Real Money including representation in STEM and entrepreneurship.

Recently, Schnarr also served as a former member of the iGaming Ontario Board of Directors, where she chaired the Corporate Affairs Committee.

A spokesperson for AGCO said: “The AGCO and its Board of Directors are excited to welcome Dr. Schnarr to the organization and extend their sincere gratitude and appreciation to AGCO’s outgoing CEO and Registrar, Tom Mungham, who announced his intention to retire from the agency in March 2023.”

Recently, AGCO fined Apollo Entertainment CA$100,000 (US$74,387) in penalties for failing to meet Ontario’s responsible gambling requirements.
